Casa Magana in Santa Ana

orphanage1Mission work in El Salvador
Casa Magana in Santa Ana

This orphanage is for young girls that have been sexually abused by a member of their family. Currently there are 39 girls at the orphanage ranging in age from 9?17 years old. They live in the orphanage for protective custody and attend the all?girls school that is part of the same facility operated by the Catholic Church. The girls are from very poor families throughout the area and do not receive any support from their family. In 2001 the orphanage was damaged by an earthquake and repairs are still needed.

Goals for Orphanage:
1. Provide spiritual support and care for the girls.
A. Establish families that will pray for the girls. I would like to exchange photos between the girls and families so that there is a name (first names only) and face to strengthen the connection. We want each girl to know there is a family here in the US that values them and wants to see them overcome the difficult situation they have encountered and have a happy life.
B. Each girl needs a Bible. We would like each family that prays for the girls to donate a Bible to them and provide a Bible verse or short statement that we will write in the Bible for each girl. (Bibles will be purchased in El Salvador for $10?15 each.)

orphanage22. Opportunities for healing through music and art workshops.
A. In July during our family vacation we are going to lead music/theater/art workshops to help the girls work through their emotional pain and realize God’s love for them and His plan for them.
B. Conduct future trips and workshops to establish a long?term relationship with the orphanage and
assist in the spiritual healing of the girls

3. Financial support to improve quality of life and basic necessities for the girls. (i.e. personal care items, clothing, vitamins, nutritious m
eals, school supplies etc.)
A. Supporters that will provide a monthly donation to assist in the ongoing needs of the girls. They can be the spiritual care givers, but do not have to be. Goal is $30/child each month.
B. Donations of several laptop computers to assist the girls in finding better jobs after leaving the orphanage. This will increase their chances at breaking the cycle of abuse and dependence. (Purchased here in US.) Also this will assist the girls with communication and instruction in the
English language.
C. Sewing machines to offer an opportunity for the girls to earn money while at the orphanage and to learn skills to prepare them for the workforce. (Likely purchased there.)

4. Assist in repair of facility to improve living conditions and safety of the girls.
A. Phil Loyer
and Lisa will be traveling to El Salvador on May 28 to assess the damage and create a plan to repair the facilities. Phil is a mechanical engineer and we will be consulting with a local engineer to establish what monies and manpower will be needed to make repairs. Once our plan is in place, we will be coordinating trips to complete the repairs along with support from the 2nd Infantry Brigade of Santa Ana.
B. Fund raising to help with cost of needed repairs.

Medical Clinic in Santa Ana and surrounding areas served by the 2nd Infantry Brigade
orphanage3This clinic for the very poorest people of El Salvador is managed and operated by the 2nd Brigade. The military of El Salvador is utilized by the government to serve the needs of the poor and to ensure their health  and safety needs are being met. The Colonel of the brigade has supplied me with a list of items that would  enhance the operations of this clinic. Durable medical goods like a dental chair, dental air compressor, equipment sterilization unit, blood pressure cuffs, etc. are items that are needed for the clinic. He has also given me a list of medications and disinfectants needed to be purchased on a monthly basis. They have detailed records of what illnesses are most frequently encountered in each community and the medications  needed for the past year to care for these poor families.

1. Purchase the durable medical goods while Lisa is in El Salvador in May or July to be delivered to the clinic under the care of Colonel Zaldivar.

2. Initiate purchase of
medications, bandages, and disinfectants to be used in the clinic. Monthly stipend provided to the clinic for ongoing care as monies are available. Monthly need is $420 based on 2008 clinic records. Colonel Zaldivar is very appreciative of any support that can be provided to the people in the region under  the care of his Brigade. He has extended his hand of hospitality and offered the protection of his soldiers during our travels to El Salvador. He wants to help us provide care to the poor people of his area and will do everything in his power to help us succeed.
